Love-Hate Relationship
Let’s face it, most of us spend a big portion of our day on the phone or by the phone. Regardless of whether our phone acts as a companion or a tool, it can be an unhealthy agent in more ways than one. Aside from the ob- vious, cell phones emit a blue light that can be disruptive to our health. Now don’t get me wrong, we all need light. Heck I live by the phrase, “There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.”

The blue light that comes from our cell phones is actually good for you but only during the day. It improves mood and boosts concentration. At night, however, is an entirely different story. The blue wavelengths after sundown can interfere with our melatonin levels leaving us with a great deal of side effects; one being poor sleep. And you all know what poor sleep can lead to? A million other problems. Going on your cell-phone or any digital device before bedtime is not a good idea. Although I must admit, I have and at times still am a victim of this poor habit. I believe most of us are but if this is not a habit you are willing to break, I may have a solution for you. I wear blue-blocking orange- tinted glasses an hour before I go to bed and while on my device. It decreases the blue-light exposure, improves sleep, and regulates sleep patterns. All-in- all, it has great benefits. Glasses such as these can be purchased online rang- ing from $20 up to $200.
Moral of the story: There is always a light at the end of a nice, long, and uninterrupted sleep.
