Happy New Year
So now we have officially entered the 2018th year. For most of us, we have allowed many indulgences to invade our bodies during the holidays - some good, some bad but that’s okay! The important thing is that we’ve savoured each bite and enjoyed every moment. Life is about the simple pleasures.

I don’t believe in dieting but I do believe strongly in removing certain foods from your daily regime for a certain period of time in order to cleanse and reset the body. January is usually the month where everyone’s motivational levels are high and would do anything to feel better. One of the things I usually do and have appreciated very much over the years is removing sugar from my diet. I don’t eat any refined sugars. Coconut sugar, raw honey, dates, and the sweetness of dairy-free dark chocolate is what I put into my body from time to time and even though it’s natural, it’s still “sugar” so sometimes it’s best to opt out of the extra sweetness. I do this for about a month and I feel absolutely great afterwards. However, I do tell myself that realistically speaking it’s almost impossible to eliminate natural sugars from the diet 100% of the time as they are often hidden in many foods that we eat. So I do not do this permanently but it’s good to shock your body now and then.
Some refer to this as The Whole 30; whereby you eat clean and without sugar for 30 days. (30 days is definitely doable for the general population). I always eat clean so that is not too challenging, however I will not remove natural sugars from my diet past the 30-day mark. Why? I know myself very well. If I do that, I will embark on a very dark and obsessive journey of watching/measuring everything I eat, and feeling guilt magnifying at each bite. Been there…done that! Life is about balance and self-control.
I have produced several products that are Whole 30 approved. If this is a goal you would like to achieve in the new year, be sure to visit my website. The Whole 30 logo will be featured alongside the image of the product.
